Andreya Triana – Giants: A Rekapper Review

Andreya Triana’s latest album Giants, while I wouldn’t say it’s a step up from Lost Where I Belong, probably because Lost was produced by Flying Lotus and Bonobo, but it’s more of a dream pop meets RnB.  I’d say the title track Giants is probably where the album should have started, because the rest of the music following on this album is quite melodic yet peaceful, sort of reminiscent of classic Beck sound, if he could sing like a great jazz singer from the 70’s.  Keep Running, track 7, really shows the advantage of the up tempo pace with Andreya’s mid heavy range as it’s quite the motivating track.  Tracks like Song For a Friend really showcase what is missing from the album, where easily a large chorus could fill up the song gloriously but this comes off being quite boring because it’s too tame.

Overall a 6/10 album, primarily as for being far too safe and tame of an album and not outreaching in range or production.
